Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Comorbidity

There is substantial comorbidity between PTSD and disorders such as depression, which are responsive to pharmacotherapy.  Up to 80% of patients with PTSD meet the criteria for at least one other psychiatric disorder.  Other common comorbid disorders are many affective disorders, other anxiety disorders, somatisation and substance abuse (Brady, 1997).
