An endocrine gland situated at the base of the hypothalamus at the base of the brain. It is divided into anterior and posterior portions, each of which secretes different hormones, including adrenocorticotropic hormone and growth hormone (anterior) and oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone (posterior). |
