mid-sagittal section
A section is an anatomical term for a cut through the body or brain to reveal internal structures. A mid-sagittal section is taken through the middle of the brain, or body, as if the body had been sliced vertically through the nose, from front to back and is taken at right angles to the plane of section used to take a coronal section.
