Multiple Sclerosis

Introduction

Multiple sclerosis(MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. The disease attacks the myelin coating around nerve fibres. Myelin allows efficient conduction of nerve impulses and when it becomes damaged or destroyed, neurons no longer transmit signals effectively and many body functions are diminished or lost.
